AFC Chairman Dr.Dan Shikanda has confirmed paying the land rates of a parcel of land given to the club by the late President Daniel Arap Moi decades ago, but clarified that the club doesn’t have the land yet.
While paying ANC Party leader and former AFC patron Hon Musalia Mudavadi a courtesy call in the company of other club legends, Shikanda assured the public that the club is following the long process of the government and hopes that the 20 HA parcel of land will finally be allocated to the club.
At the meeting, legends of AFC Leopards club led by their Chairman Josphat Murila lauded the continuous support being given by the Party Leader, saying it has enhanced the morale in the team especially after H.E Hon Musalia W Mudavadi supported the team in clearing the land charges the team owed the government early in June.
The team of 26 Legends who have played for the club since early 70s paid Hon Musalia Mudavadi a visit Thursday at his Musalia Mudavadi Centre, also threw their support towards Hon Musalia Mudavadi’s Presidential bid.
Others present were, former players Aggrey Lukoye, Nahashon Busuru, Mickey “T9” Weche, Mike Amwayi, Reginald Asibwa, George Sunguti, Robert Matano, Patrick Shilasi, Edward Lisamula, Bernard Musuku, Peter Lichungu, John “Shoto” Lukoye, Ezekiel Akwana, Zablon Amanaka, Nicholas Muyoti, Maurice Khayota, Maurice Sunguti, Gilbert Olumasai, Kevin Wandera, Patrick Shim, Shabani Omar, Said “Wash” Kamadi, Oscar Kadenge and Charles Okwemba.
