Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala expelled for disrespecting the party

Amani National Congress (ANC) early today expelled the vocal Kakamega senator Hon Cleophas Malala. The party accused the Mp for disrespecting the party and campaigning against Anc’s candidate in Kibra Eliud Owallo.

The party’s disciplinary committee had in November last year suspended and summoned Senator Malala to appear and respond to charges made against him during an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party rally.

“…your utterances, and activities at the political rally convened by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) at Kibra on October 27, 2019, prejudiced the integrity and reputation of the ANC Party, its members, and employees,”

the committee told the legislator.

Senator Malala was unavailable for a response. Last year Malala refused to appear and or respond to the charges and appear before the committee to defend himself which prompted the party to respond by expelling him.

Malala now joins Nominated Mp Hon Godfrey Osotsi who was also expelled.
Hon Osotsi has however contested his expulsion and the matter is pending in court
